What's Up, City Kid?! The Great Jack O' Lantern Blaze!

Screen Shot 2016-10-17 at 9.17.11 AM.png

Every Halloween we try and change things up a bit. Yes, we always go trick-or-treating, and we usually decorate pumpkins, but it's always nice to find other things to do. This year we found out about The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze in Croton On Hudson, NY and we were so glad we were invited to check it out! The entire experience was amazing. Not only was the creativity impressive with over 7,000 pumpkins strategically designed to create amazing creations, but the whole experience from the spooky background music, to having delicious hot chocolate and apple cider after was fun. This event sells out pretty fast so make sure to get tickets here before it sells out!

Weekend Picks: Jordans + Tales2Go + Cheesecake Smoothies

the weekend 5.29.15

the weekend 5.29.15The weekend is here! Woo hoo! Isn't it weird how short weeks seem long? I only worked Tuesday through Friday this week, but I honestly feel like these four days were longer than the five-day week that passed! This weekend we're checking out some guitar lessons for Tyler. He really wants to start playing and I am all for it! Other than that, a lot of cleaning, catching up with the family and relaxing. Our weekend picks for you include this delish strawberry swirl cheesecake smoothie, an audio reading app perfect for any long drives with the kids this weekend and HOT new Spizike Jordan sneakers that Tyler has been rocking. What are you doing this weekend?

Let me know if you try any of our picks! Feel free to "@" us with @tristinandtyler if you try any of them! Happy Weekend!

On the Next Episode of What's Up, City Kid?! > Construction Kids!

Screen Shot 2015-05-27 at 9.49.13 PM Think you would ever let your kiddo make something with a power tool or a hammer? You're probably saying NO WAY, but we may just change your mind after you see the next episode of What's Up, City Kid?! Join Tristin and Tyler at the Brooklyn Navy Yard to check out a unique kids program that gets kids excited about construction and yep, you guessed it - power tools. Construction Kids helps kids create and repair projects ranging from skateboards, to toys to decorative wood flowers, using all natural materials. Using teamwork and tools scaled for kid's hands, children really get a chance to dive right in and implement basic construction skills while learning the importance of safety. It was great to see Tristin and Tyler learn how to properly hold a hammer and where they should put their hands for support when they are drilling something.  What do you think about kids learning new skills and using their hands in new ways to create and strengthen their fine motor skills? Let me know in the comments below.

Stay tuned for the episode next week and make sure to SUBSCRIBE to our YouTube Channel so you don't miss a thing!

POPBAR3 So glad Spring is here! The boys are so excited about getting outdoors more and checking out cool places like one of our new favorite spots for a treat, Popbar!  You know we are always on the hunt for the coolest hangouts for families, and this place...this place right here, is a winner!  On the next episode of What's up City Kid?!, we head to the West Village to go behind the scenes of a gelato shop that allows you to design your own perfect popsicle! Tristin + Tyler's Weekend Picks: 3.6.15

the weekend 3,6,15We are so excited it's March already, that means Spring is really on the way! Im in the process of trying to lose some weight so I am not rushing Spring at all, but the boys can't wait to get outside, ride their bikes and hang with friends. Today is my husband's birthday, we are so excited! The boys made the cutest cards for him. He works on the weekends so I am hoping we get to spend some time with him outdoors in the next few days but, if all else fails, we'll definitely try to make our own version of this treat I loved as a kid with Jello, the boys will rock their favorite boots EVER and we're gonna see what all the hype is about on this new kids app. Hope you try these fun ideas along with us!

Oh, and if you haven't already, please SUBSCRIBE to our YOUTUBE Channel, we are about to really get our video on again and we want YOU along for the ride! HAPPY WEEKEND!

This weekend it's all about loving the classics.  From these awesome velcro sneakers from Adidas collaboration with Star Wars, to letting the little ones enjoy tons of  musical entertainment on a street we all grew up loving! Oh, and this delish treat lets the kids get hands on - literally.  It may look creepy, but we're going to try it! if you do it too, share images with us by tagging @tristinandtyler.
